There was a lot of discussion about “change” in the 2006 Congressional Race. After that election, Liberals took control of the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate. We got change. The price of gasoline went up over 70%, the federal budget deficit went up over 50%, consumer confidence went down, and the economy slowed to a crawl.
Is that the kind of change you want? Are you better off than you were 2 years ago? Will you help me bring positive change to Washington?
Energy Costs – While we’re working on finding alternative energy sources we have to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
Jobs – Enact the Fair Tax to make American products more competitive and thus keep manufacturing jobs here in America.
Economy – The Fair Tax will eliminate income taxes, social security taxes, medicare taxes, and fire the IRS. It ends the “more you make, the more they take tax system.” That will get the economy moving again.
Health Care – Americans should have the ability to choose their own health care plan instead of a “one-size fits all” government plan.
For more than 30 years, Mike Sodrel has been getting things done for us in Southern Indiana as a community leader, a job creator, and as a Congressman.
Mike grew up along the Ohio River and graduated from New Albany High School in 1963. He married Marquita (Keta) Dean of Jeffersonville in 1967. Like many newlyweds, they struggled to make ends meet.
Together they started their first business with just two employees and a dream for something more. The Free Enterprise System began in June of 1976 with three 1949 GMC transit buses. In 1987, Mike purchased Sodrel Truck Lines from his family. Under Mike’s stewardship the company grew from 150 employees to around a 700-person operation with offices in Jeffersonville, IN and Indianapolis and trucks and motor coaches on highways across the Midwest. Mike is a life member of the American Legion, and a former Staff Sergeant in the Indiana Army National Guard. He was chosen Small Business Person of the Year in 1995.
In 2004, Mike was elected to Congress and fought for Hoosier values, lower taxes, a secure homeland and important Indiana transportation needs.
